Take this self drive tour and unearth the hidden country on this fantastic five day Scotland Tour, encompassing the finest locations and most fantastic attractions. Commence your journey by the beautiful shores of lovely Loch Lomond, popping in to charming little Luss and it’s rose covered pretty cottages. Onward to Oban, the gateway to the mysterious islands of Iona and Staffa. Once you step onto Iona, you sense a hushed spirituality oozing over you, lose yourself amongst a bundle of early Christian sites that have ignored invading armies and the ravages of time. Uninhabited Staffa is the terrific gem that inspired Mendelssohn’s hauntingly beautiful Hebrides Overture. Follow in his footsteps, enter Fingal’s cave to listen to the echoing waves making music in this cathedral-like cavern. This Scotland Tour then weaves its way through spectacular scenery towards the Isle of Skye, a magical land of rugged mountains, rippling lakes, wooded thickets; dotted with intimate little villages crammed with affable locals and languid taverns. Explore the curious landscape of the Trotternish peninsula, meet the Old Man of Storr, scramble over the dramatic Quiraing and moor at the Neist Point Lighthouse to gaze out at the battered Outer Hebrides. Wrap up this terrific Scotland vacation with a once in a lifetime visit to the dark, rippling waters of Loch Ness and it’s ominous occupant.

Itinerary :
All Tours can start or finish in either Glasgow or Edinburgh.
Day 1 : Glasgow – Loch Lomond - Oban
Today takes you west to Glasgow, then north along the full length of Loch Lomond, stopping at the charming conservation village of Luss set on the loch's ‘bonny, bonny banks’. You will travel through the impressive mountains of the West Highlands passing the romantic ruin of Kilchurn Castle, set at the head of Loch Awe before arriving in Oban. Overnight in Oban.

Day 2 : Mull – Iona - Staffa
The second day is an island adventure exploring the dramatic coastlines and wild beauty of Mull before taking the small ferry to the peace and tranquility of Iona – birthplace of Celtic Christianity and ancient burial ground of Scottish Kings. Here you can visit the historic abbey with its intricate carved crosses in the churchyard or explore the rocky headlands and sandy coves of this island gem. There is also an opportunity to take a small boat out to the island of Staffa and view the dramatic basalt columns immortalised by Mendelssohn in his Hebridean Overture at Fingal’s Cave. Return to your accommodation in Oban.

Day 3 : Fort William - Skye
Today takes you north along the west coast to Fort William, then out west through the dramatic mountain scenery of the Five Sisters of Kintail to the sea. Here you can visit Eilean Donan Castle (set of the film ‘Highlander’) with fabulous views over to the Isle of Skye. Taking the bridge onto Skye you will proceed to the picturesque harbour town of Portree for your overnight.

Day 4 : Skye
Today you will go on another island adventure exploring Skye, including the wild north of the island, the old man of Storr, the mountain pass of the Quiraing, Kilt Rock and Skye’s most westerly point at Neist. Return to hotel in Portree.

Day 5 : Loch Ness – Pitlochry - Edinburgh
The final day we return back south, returning to the mainland via the Cuillin mountains and on to Loch Ness, then travel through the Grampian mountains past Loch Laggan to Pitlochry. From here, we sadly bid farewell to the Highlands as we return you to Edinburgh/Glasgow.
